Rummies' Favorite Movies up to now,

 in no order:

and by the way...this list DOESN'T mean these movies are the BEST.

AND it doesn't mean these are selected by The Captain.

These are merely submissions from fellow bar flies who have had the courage to email their reviews.

No one is asking you to agree.

Judge for yourself.

Everyone has an opinion so stop with the movie geek emails....

Dream On Series Seasons 1 & 2: Usually we don't list TV shows but this series was one of the most creative 1/2 hour shows on HBO back in the late 80's early 90's.  Available from Amazon.com it is worth the $50.  25 episodes that are guaranteed to make you laugh.

Castaway:  Tom Hanks pulls it off. Good movie for when you really want to chill out and reflect. Question you have to ask: What would YOU do ?

Master & Commander:  Russell Crowe does a fine job as the Cappy and the cinematography is awesome. Only thing to note*  is that there are several brutal scenes totally unsuitable for younger audiences. Watch this when you have a baby sitter.

Little Ms. Sunshine:  A good, quirky movie to watch when you are in a 'mediocre' mood.  We love Steve Carell but he's a little too serious in this flick.  This is a movie that tugs at your heart and if you are a parent even more so.  We love how they slam these ridiculous beauty pageants for 5 year olds and the psychotic parents that push their kids, (without ever saying ANYTHING about the pageants).  This is not for the kids.  We say: Worth the rent.

Six Days Seven Nights:   Not the best flick but a fun time anyway.  Just let loose and enjoy. This movie is funny, exciting and at the very least worth a small amount of your time.

Close Encounters of The Third Kind:  Digitally remastered this classic is a winner all the way around. The images of spacecraft & sightings never looked better.

Syriana:  George Clooney in a complicated, compelling look at underhandedness and betrayal in the oil business. Brutal at times and hard to follow if you don't pay attention but a good flick.

Beerfest : Stupid humor and sometimes offensive to almost anyone on something, but worth kicking back with some friends and drinking plenty of cold ones.  To it's credit though, this movie has some pretty great stuff in it: The morning after 5 guys trying to drink an entire keg of beer in one night & the 'quarters' champion in action.

Doctor Detroit :  Fun stuff that showcases 80's fun.  Best quote:  "Mom, I'm going to rip off your head and shit down your neck".

Couch Trip :  Funny as shit.  Yeah Walter Mathow has had MUCH better dignified rolls (check The Taking Of Pelham 123) but none the less the Couch Trip is funny all the way around.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2   (This is a weird & bizarre movie.)  Uma Thurman definitely hits the screen as a pissed off babe. Lots of blood, odd plot, lots of action, definitely a guy beer movie.

CARS  THIS is a great animated feature!  If you thought Toy Story was good, grab the kids and some popcorn and settle in with CARS.  The Animation is SO GOOD you would swear it was real.  The story is clever, the humor is terrific and of course, 'Mator' steals the show.  If you have kids, THIS is a MUST and if you don't have kids or are single, lonely or in need of a spirit lifter, whatever,  RENT IT.  This is the kind of flick that makes you feel good.  We need more of these.

Priscilla; Queen Of The Desert   Weird movie about cross dressing guys crossing the Australian Outback but funny as shit.  If you can get past the basic gay overtones you will laugh.  Very funny stuff.  Much better than the rip off called To Julie Newmar, Lots Of Love Wong Fu.  (What the hell was Patrick Swazie thinking?)

The 40 Year Old Virgin   (This movie is funny and clever! (Voted Number # 1 by the Rummiestm for a complete 12 months) Steve Carell is not only perfect for the part but incredibly unpredictable. When you watch him you always have this thought in the back of your mind that he's going to come up with something really hilarious.)  WORTH THE RENT!

Band Of Brothers ~  (Just a really good show...period)

Deadwood ~ First Season  - (Terrific show based on true stories.  Too much of the F*** word but a good show.  HBO productions available on DVD)

Young Frankenstein  (How could we leave out such a classic?) Gene Wilder at his ULTIMATE best! So many lines and so much to remember.  Just rent the damn movie and enjoy!

Monty Python and The Holy Grail (You think you know it but turn on the subtitles and you will learn volumes)

The Game  (One of the most intense efforts of Michael Douglas since Fatal Attraction creeped out every guy who has ever sacked a psycho hose beast)

Eurotrip  (Brainless idiocy with a completely ridiculous story but two things stand out: The English soccer hooligans . They could have made the whole movie about the Hooligans as far as the Captain is concerned)

Vice Squad ( A forgotten movie that is far too heated.  A pimp 'Ramrod' who whips his girls' cooters with a coat hanger? The Captain actually saw two fights break out in the theatre during this movie)

Blazing Saddles  (who doesn't like this movie?)

U-571  Great flick.  Although this movie caused quite a stir in England because it was the English who scored the 'Enigma Machine' breaking the codes of the Nazis.  Whatever,  This is a balls-to-the-wall Guy flick.  Grab your cooler, turn off all the lights except the TV and sit back.  You will NOT be disappointed with THIS movie.

Super Troopers  (the first 20 minutes is worth the rent)

Desperate Hours  ( another Anthony Hopkins flick.  This movie is a great beer movie and it is so intense you may just want to watch it again  just to see Mickey Rourke at the end)

Speaking of our favorite Anthony Hopkins, there are two other movies we love best: Silence Of The Lambs and The Edge with Alec Baldwin.  The Edge is incredible.  Just to see Alec Baldwin think he has it all figured out and then get his ass kicked by Hopkins is a major guy moment.   And no we didn't spoil the ending.

Point Of No Return  is a hot flick for a couple of reasons.  Feel free to disagree but if you consider these points you might like it.  PONR is a good movie.  Bridget Fonda hasn't looked this good since Singles.  We don't mean the first part of the movie when she is a junkie.  This movie,  for you not aware, was the start of the female assassin bend that TV took in the early nineties with  Le Femme Nikita and such. The worst part of this movie is Dermot Mulroney's so called acting.  It is so bad just fast forward through his shit.  The best part is the total situation of 'either do what we tell you or your dead and nobody knows' thing.  Bridget Fonda pulls it off in a big way.  We liked the scene where the 'Cleaner'  (aka: Harvey Keitel) shows up.  Just rent it, watch it and you will know.

Fight Club  (especially the scene of the guy beating himself up in his bosses' office)

Singles   ( everyone knows someone like a character in that movie. Matt Dillons' character is funny as shit)

"Gladiator"  and "The Patriot"   (revenge is so sweeeet)

Ford Fairlane  (totally unappreciated classic on so many levels. Worth the time.)

Lady Killers  (where else could you laugh at IBS? and don't forget 'The fingers up the brother's nose!")

American Psycho  (this movie is so fucked up it's worth watching)

Casino  (just to see Sharon Stone get tossed)

Seven  (brutal, brutal, brutal)

Jaws  ( All time favorite of EVERYONE's  "We're gonna need a bigger boat...")

They Live   (Just goes to show, you knew something was weird about that chick)
